Westford education achievements
University of New Hampshire
Laruen Wallace, Lindsay Katkowski and William Feather, of Westford, recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. Wallace received a Master of Science in occupational therapy. Katkowski received a Master of Social work in social work. Feather received a Master of Science in mechanical engineering.
College of the Holy Cross
The following Westford students made the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester: Emma Wood, class of 2021, majoring in psychology; Connor Degenhardt, class of 2021, majoring in psychology; Benjamin McGroder, class of 2022, majoring in economics; Matthew Robertson, class of 2022, majoring in chemistry; Zachary Lawrence, class of 2024, with an undeclared major; and Benjamin Sherry, class of 2024, with an undeclared major. Students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be named to the dean’s list.
Like all cities, New Bedford has a great history and some terrible history. The highway serial killer of the 1980s is among the most interesting and unsolved.
The serial killer who roamed the streets of New Bedford killing women has avoided arrest for over 40 years. The investigation has spanned the careers of four Bristol County District Attorneys. There is still an opportunity to solve the case.
The best catalyst to solve the case is journalist and author Maureen Boyle. Her book
Shallow Graves continues to keep the memories of the victims alive and hopefully will trigger some other people to remember something and come forward. As a crime reporter, she covered the case from the beginning. Today, she is a testament to the importance of solid journalism and the meaning of the First Amendment. Fortunately, she is teaching the generation of journalists at Stonehill College in Easton.
BROCKTON To the world, Keith Gill is the investor who led an online community to buy stock in gaming company GameStop, causing its price to fluctuate greatly and make some people money and others to lose it.
But in the Brockton area, Gill is someone who grew up in the city, found running as a teenager and went on to become a cross-country and track and field star athlete at the college level. The kids all know him by name, said John Fidalgo, coach of Brockton High School s track and field team where Gill competed. The Gill name is everywhere in our locker room and record board.
Who is Roaring Kitty?
Roaring Kitty, who has driven top Wall Street leaders in a frenzy, has been unveiled to be Keith Gill, a 34-year-old financial adviser from Boston, Massachusetts. He had a firm named Roaring Kitty LLC in Concord, New Hampshire, for providing investment advisory services, but it was dissolved later.
Gill is presently employed at In Good Company, a branch of investment firm MassMutual. He also posts investment and finance tips on his YouTube channel Roaring Kitty, which started the entire episode.
In high school and college, he was a noted athlete and has been referred to as ‘one of the most decorated runners in the rich history of the cross country and track & field programs.’ If the same report is to be believed, he graduated in 2009 from Stonehill College in Easton, with a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration in Accounting.
