Dover High School students receive vaccine shot at DHS clinic

Students received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which the Food and Drug Administration approved for emergency use for individuals 16 years and older in December 2020. The vaccination was provided voluntarily to eligible students who had a signed permission form. Students aged 16 and 17 were required to have parent/guardian permission to receive the vaccination.  All students will receive their second vaccination in three weeks through a similar effort at Dover High School. Last week, Dover Fire and Rescue, with the Strafford County Public Health Network s help, provided Dover teachers with their second vaccination. More than 700 teachers were vaccinated within a few hours.  At the clinic today, Dover Fire and Rescue members screened and registered students while a Walgreens pharmaceutical team provided vaccination shots to the students. Dover Fire and Rescue members also monitored students after receiving the vaccination to ensure there were no complications.

COVID vaccine: NH out-of-state students denied; push back on Sununu

DURHAM  Isabella Ronson, an out-of-state senior at the University of New Hampshire, established state residency Monday at the Department of Motor Vehicles with her apartment address. Susceptible to COVID-19 complications due to Crohn’s disease, it was the only way Ronson could quickly become eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in New Hampshire. “It was really frustrating when the governor made the announcement about the rollout for everyone above (age) 16 because I had been waiting so long to register,” said Ronson, who hails from Virginia. Out-of-state students such as Ronson are currently unable to receive a coronavirus vaccination in New Hampshire, despite living in the Granite State for the majority of the year and meeting the current age eligibility requirements rolled out by Gov. Chris Sununu in recent weeks.
