Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder and another also aged 15 who was held in connection with the incident have been bailed to a date in late May. A post-mortem examination held at East Ham Mortuary gave Fares’s cause of death as stab injuries.
A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged over the fatal stabbing of another teenager. Fares Maatou, 15, died at the scene of the attack in Barking Road, Newham, on Friday afternoon. The teenage defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Stratford Youth Court on Monday charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon. The boy, from Grays, Essex, spoke in person to confirm his name, age and address. The court heard that Fares died after suffering stab injuries to his upper body.
