Article content Well, it’s another beautiful spring day as I write this councillor column and I’ve just returned home from one of our local area gems, Deer Mound Dog Park, with my dog Penny. Having space to interact with other pups and their humans have been our long-standing tradition with every dog we’ve owned. What I love about our community is there are so many great spaces to enjoy a long stroll while exercising our favourite four-legged companion. It’s great that in a Specialized Municipality like Strathcona County that we have both our Urban and Rural user areas.

Celebrate a COVID-safe Family Day

Article content Strathcona County has revamped its usual activities for Family Day due to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering a number of physically distant or virtual activities. “Typically, Family Day is our busiest day of the year for our indoor recreation facilities but with the restrictions in place as a result of COVID-19, that is obviously going to look different,” explained Dennis Franklin, community partnerships representative with Strathcona County’s Recreation, Parks and Culture. “We’ve shifted our focus this year to emphasize this year on virtual and outdoor opportunities.” We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
