Questions about the shooting of Christian Hall by the Pennsylvania State Police have not gone away since the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office ruled the use of force justified.
For activist Treandous T.C Cuthbertson, these questions demand answers: Who gave the order to shoot? When did Hall become a threat to the officers? Why did the statement from the Pennsylvania State Police say that Hall pointed his gun at them “when the video evidence disproves that”?
Hall was carrying what turned out to be a realistic-looking pellet gun when he was shot on a highway overpass on Dec. 30, 2020. His hands were raised when he was shot, and as far as the available video shows, the gun was pointed up and away from police.
On a windy afternoon outside the Monroe County Courthouse, Fe Hall told the crowd that had marched there with her about who her son Christian Hall was before he became known to the world for being killed by police.
The 19-year-old Giant employee was preparing for his driving test and saving to buy a car so that he could get a second job. He could be seen walking in Stroudsburg, or along Route 611, to work.
Christian Hall talked to his family members often, from his cousins and extended family to texting or calling his parents on his breaks at work. Christian, who was Chinese, was adopted by Fe and Gareth Hall as a baby.

How East Stroudsburg schools plan to diversify curriculum, staff and more
With a student body far more racially diverse than its employees, the East Stroudsburg Area School District is undertaking a long-term effort not only to make sure its curriculum reflects all students, but to make sure all operations, including communication and hiring, are carried out with diversity in mind.
It’s not quick work, but it’s deliberate: “We don’t want to be reactionary. We want to be proactive,” said school board member Damary Bonilla-Rodriguez. That means “the work is happening on an ongoing slower pace” but that allows diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) to be purposefully baked in across the district.
