What is the best takeaway in Stroud? We re launching a competition to find out. Whether it’s Fat Toni’s pizza, Old Fleece roasts or Simply Fish and Chips, takeaway food has been a ray of sunshine for many people at the end of another week in lockdown. More and more choice is available this year, as businesses like the Little Ginger Café and Deli or the Stirrup Cup have diversified to offer takeaway, to beat Covid restrictions on sales. One of those businesses is Stroud Brewery, which has been developing seasonal takeaway dinners, and its owner Greg Pilley stressed their importance while we are all working from home.
A film celebrating the outdoor pool in Stratford Park will be released as part of Stroud Film Festival next month. The footage, compiled by Friends of Stratford Park Lido, includes stories of galas, lifeguards and celebrations from the pool s opening day in 1938 to the summer of 2019. Stroud News and Journal readers helped make the film possible, following a call-out for stories from swimming enthusiasts last year. Jess McQuail of the Friends of Stratford Park Lido said: These stories bring to life how important the pool is, as a much-loved local facility that we need to protect and improve for future generations to enjoy.
