Health Minister Maksym Stepanov reports on the spread of the British strain of coronavirus in all regions of Ukraine and the emergence of the South African strain in two regions.
As of Monday morning, some 5,572 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease were recorded in Ukraine, some 1,734 people recovered and 106 patients died, Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said.
The Cabinet of Ministers has extended quarantine in Ukraine until April 30, 2021 and established a "yellow" level of epidemic danger throughout Ukraine from February 24.

Ukraine closed schools, restaurants and gyms on Friday as a new nationwide lockdown took effect to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the nation of 41 million people according to foreign media reports including reuters.
Starting on Jan. 8, Ukraine enters a 17-day nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19. Sri Lanka piloted a model tourism project with Ukrainian tourists. There were mixed reactions to the project.
What does the lock down include
The lockdown measures include the closure of restaurants, stores that don’t sell groceries, cinemas, gyms and fitness centers. The measures will last through Jan. 24.

Ukrainians should contact family doctors with any symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections for collection of material or rapid testing for the COVID-19 antigen, and in case of refusal to contact the hotline of the Ministry of Health, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, January 5.
