A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities

Stonewall founder thinks the dictionary definition of freedom is ludicrous

Simon Fanshawe. (Getty/ David M Benett) Stonewall founder Simon Fanshawe has said it’s “ludicrous” that freedom for trans people would mean, well, the dictionary definition of freedom. Fanshawe, who in 2019 signed an open letter declaring the charity undermines “women’s sex-based rights” by supporting Gender Recognition Act reform, was one of the 14 people who formed Stonewall in 1989. According to the Collins English Dictionary, freedom is defined as “the state of being allowed to do what you want to do”, but Fanshawe appears to think this definition is “ludicrous”. In an op-ed for the Daily Mail, he wrote: “‘Free to Be’, Stonewall’s new slogan claims. It is a ludicrous notion that freedom means that you can just be whatever you want.

UK government equalities office celebrated Pride Month It backfired badly

(NurPhoto via Getty/ David Cliff) The government’s so-called equalities office tried to wish everyone a happy Pride Month, but in light of its recent actions, it wildly backfired. The Government Equalities Office (GEO) has disappointed the LGBT+ time and time again under the leadership of Conservative minister for women and equalities Liz Truss. Almost three years since the Conservative party’s 2018 pledge to “eradicate” conversion therapy in the UK as part of its LGBT+ Action Plan, a ban has failed to materialise. Following promises that a ban would be brought forward “shortly” – after a consultation on “free speech” and “religious freedom” – just last month Truss suggested that the previous LGBT+ Action Plan would be scrapped.

Stonewall threatened to silence gender critical barrister by having her sacked, says judge

Stonewall ‘threatened’ to silence gender critical barrister by having her sacked, says judge Allison Bailey is currently suing the embattled charity, claiming it collaborated with her chambers to put her under investigation 1 June 2021 • 5:13pm Stonewall “threatened” to silence a gender-critical barrister they deemed “transphobic” by having her sacked, court documents have revealed. Allison Bailey, a lesbian criminal barrister who helped to set up the LGB Alliance, is currently suing the embattled charity, claiming it collaborated with her chambers to put her under investigation. Ms Bailey, who set up a crowdfunder to cover her legal bills, lodged a claim at the Employment Tribunal against Stonewall and Garden Court Chambers last year alleging that she was silenced “because both my chambers and Stonewall treat people such as me, who hold gender critical beliefs, as being bigoted and unworthy of respect”.
