County Approves Agreement for Shared Shooting Ranges

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission approved a joint powers agreement between the county and city of Jamestown for joint use of shooting ranges. Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says their new range near the road department is running currently. He added they currently share the range with numerous other entities at this time. Sheriff Kaiser says there was land issues that needed to be worked out, which has been taken care of. The joint powers agreement would allow each party to operate any property not owned or operated by either party as a shooting range. Currently, there is an agreement with the city and LEC on the shooting range near the fairgrounds. Kaiser says there are some limitations at that range.

Stutsman County Commission declines additional COVID-19 leave

Written By: Keith Norman | × The Stutsman County Commission declined to extend a program that included additional sick leave and family leave for employees for coronavirus-related issues. The program was mandatory as part of the CARES Act that expired at the end of 2020. Businesses and governments had the option to extend it into 2021 for their employees. The city of Jamestown approved extending the program Monday. The Stutsman County Commission was told that the state of North Dakota had not extended the program. Personnel policies for the employees of the Social Services Department, now known as Buffalo Bridges Human Services Zone, are set by the state of North Dakota. The commission declined to have different leave packages for social services employees compared to other county employees, said Mark Klose, chairman of the commission.
