Vehicle Pursuit of Wanted Subject in Jamestown Thursday

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit Thursday afternoon. On January 14th, a Jamestown Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation just after 2 PM in the 800 block of 4th Avenue NE. Major Justin Blinksy reports the vehicle immediately fled from officers in a reckless manner. It was determined the male driver was wanted on a warrant and had a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle fled through northeast Jamestown before leaving city limits on Stutsman County Road 40. The vehicle drove on several gravel county roads before entering the town of Spiritwood.

Art Krein, 74, Jamestown, was found guilty by a 12-person jury of reckless endangerment, a Class C felony and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor. Krein was accused of shooting a firearm at an occupied train and causing damage of more than $200 to the train with a bullet hole on June 23, 2019. LeFevre sentenced Krein to three days in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for three days served. Krein was also placed on one year supervised probation and ordered to pay a $25 victim-witness fee and $11,137 restitution.

Catalytic converter theft investigation continues

Officials with the Jamestown Police Department give tips to avoid thefts from cars. Written By: Keith Norman | × The Jamestown Police Department has received assistance from the public in its investigation of thefts of catalytic converters in Jamestown, according to Scott Edinger, chief of police. Edinger had no comments on possible suspects in the investigation. Edinger said there are ways for the public to protect their vehicles from possible theft. People should park their cars where it would be difficult for someone to get access to the undercarriage of their vehicles, he said. Park them inside if possible. Anyone that witnessed anything suspicious should contact law enforcement immediately, Edinger said.
