Stutsman County Park Board Approves Sinking Vehicle Event

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Park Board discussed a request from the EZ Wheels Shrine Club to sink a vehicle on the Little Britches Pond. Shrine member Jon Lindberg says the club has been looking at different fundraisers that also account for COVID-19 social distancing. Lindberg says they’ll sink a 1942 farm truck after stripping it down completely and draining out all of its fluids before sinking it. He added they’ll outfit it with advertising signs and more, attaching lines to it so they can safely remove it from the pond. The club would look at sinking the pickup on the Little Britches Pond later this winter.

He added that playground equipment and campground upgrades could also be looked at. Commissioner Ramone Gumke stated that focusing on funding to improve water safety should be a top priority. Berg stated he would maybe look to a partnership with a company to find funding. He expects more traffic in the area once the NDFU Youth Camp is completed and operating. He says warmer weather has helped crews with the current construction of the camp. Berg stated he would focus his efforts on water safety improvements. Bob Martin was also introduced as the new Stutsman County Park Board member, taking over the vacancy left by Joan Morris.

Joan Morris, a former member of the Stutsman County Park Board, took her seat on the county commission. Morris was elected to the seat vacated by Dave Schwartz, who did not seek reelection. Bob Martin was appointed to fill Morris seat on the park board. The Stutsman County Park Board is made up of the five county commissioners and two appointed members of the community.
