BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) It is foreseeable that in the future, China-Europe relations will embrace new opportunities and meanwhile confront various challenges, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday. In a phone conversation with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Xi noted that the key is to firmly grasp the general direction of the comprehensive strategic partnership, properly manage differences and maintain the main tone of win-win cooperation. Xi asked Sanchez to convey his cordial greetings to King Felipe VI. Noting that China and Spain are important strategic partners and important cooperation partners, Xi said the two sides should understand and support each other.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Monday denounced as unacceptable a spike in domestic violence that saw five women murdered in the past week by their partners or ex-partners.
Among the victims was a 42-year-old Barcelona woman who was stabbed to death by her husband who then killed himself and a pregnant Moroccan woman who was murdered by her partner who called police to confess.
Their deaths bring to 14 the number of women killed in Spain so far this year by their partner or ex-partner, and to 1,092 the total number murdered since the government started keeping a tally in 2003.

MADRID Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez accused Morocco of failing to protect its borders on Tuesday after thousands of migrants crossed into the North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla last week.
“The neighbor (Morocco) needs to control its borders as well, and this did not happen,” Sanchez added. “We’re talking about Spanish cities, about European borders, and this must be respected.”

Spain has the “best conditions” to become Europe’s green hydrogen hub, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Monday, EURACTIV’s partner EFE reported.
Sanchez spoke hours after US engine maker Cummins announced it would build a plant in Spain to make electrolyser systems to produce green hydrogen, a zero-carbon fuel created using renewable energy rather than fossil fuels.
The project is partly funded by Cummins, which will invest an initial €50 million, and the Spanish electric utility company Iberdrola.
The plant will be built in Guadalajara, a city outside the Spanish capital, and is expected to start green fuel production in 2023. As well as producing 500 MW/per year of hydrogen, it will create 350 jobs in the area.
