The French President, 42, admitted the error hours after it emerged he was ill – prompting a Europe-wide bid to trace others he may have infected. There were also claims Mr Macron had broken his government’s guidelines over only six people being allowed to sit down to a meal.
Emmanuel Macron is in a stable condition , his doctor said in a statement two days after the French President tested positive for COVID-19.
The French leader still presents symptoms of the virus, including fatigue, cough and body aches, the statement said, but those are not stopping him from fulfilling his duties.
Clinical examinations are carried out on a regular basis and results are reassuring , said Jean-Christophe Perrochon, Chief Doctor of the French Presidency.
The French president is currently quarantining at La Lanterne, an official residence in Versailles, where he will stay for seven days and work remotely.
His officials have declined to comment on any treatment he is receiving.

A statement issued by the presidential palace on Thursday morning (Paris time) said the 42-year-old had been infected, but did not provide any further details.
Macron took a coronavirus test after developing symptoms and will self-isolate for at least seven days, in line with French government policy.
