Ranked second in his class he is Vice President of the Student Council, President of the Technology Student Association and a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Key Club and Math League. Kevin is a peer leader, captain of the Chess Club, was a nominee for the NJ Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology and also received the Key Club’s Distinguished Service Award.

Scott Offenberger
The Washington County Career Center honors its March Students of the Month, Caeley Mincks and Joseph “Scott” Offenberger.
Caeley Mincks is a Fort Frye senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Rodney Mincks and Chasity Hayes of Lowell.
At the Career Center, Mincks is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization and the National Technical Honor Society. She has received awards for Principal’s List and is an Energy Bus Driver member for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. In her technical program, Mincks has earned both high school and college dual credits for Introduction to Nutrition and Medical Terminology I & II. Having moved to the United States from Ethiopia when she was 5, Hewan Kidanemariam is aware of inequities in the world especially when it comes to health care. She says her early interest in medicine was influenced by her mother, who was a medical aide during that country’s civil war and would tell stories of bandaging wounded soldiers.
“It really comes down to impact. There are other professions where you can help people, but it’s more indirect,” says Hewan, 17, who lives in Silver Spring and aspires to be a physician. “In health care, you have a more intimate relationship with a patient and a direct impact on a patient’s life.”

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with during high school? The Positive Change Club, Where Everyone Belongs (WEB), LINC Crew (leader), Medical Science Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Healthy Living Club, Ships for Service, prom court, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Badger Girls State Alternate, lead flower girl, varsity girls soccer team, varsity girls tennis team (captain), and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
What is one academic accomplishment about which you feel particularly good? I feel most proud that I have maintained a high GPA throughout high school while taking difficult accelerated and AP courses. In addition, passing the AP Psychology exam during virtual learning last school year was a huge accomplishment. AP Psychology was one of my most vigorous and time-consuming classes, and it was nice to see all of my hard work pay off!
