On Saturday shortly after 5 PM, police were on patrol paying special attention to the Manton section of the city due to the recent increase in firearm-related violence, including a homicide on Friday on Pope Street as well as several calls for shots fired.
Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for traffic violations and made contact with the operator, Ricardo Hiraldo.
According to police, Hiraldo was seen throwing an item from the vehicle prior to stopping, which was later discovered to be a Springfield Armory XD40 semiautomatic pistol containing one live cartridge in the chamber and eleven live cartridges in the magazine.
