Upgrades come to Missouri s Wolfner Talking Books and Braille Library

Duplication-on-demand technology is changing the way a Missouri statewide library system serves people who live with visual impairments. Experts say it s a good thing. One key Springfield-Greene County Library manager hailed a big duplication-on-demand upgrade announced by Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft s office on Wednesday morning. I think it s a great thing that they can do this,  said Lisa Sampley, the Springfield-area library district s director of collection services. It does simplify people s lives a lot. A new duplication-on-demand system recently acquired by Wolfner Talking Books and Braille Library, based in Jefferson City, will allow the taxpayer-funded agency to make custom digital cartridges for each of its 8,000 Missouri users, based on their book requests.
