GRCC Professors show gratitude to healthcare workers

The Collegiate Live By Annah Johnson On Wednesday, Chefs Sasha Ahmed, Wilfredo Barajas, Audrey Heckwolf, and Gilles Renusson of the Grand Rapids Community College Secchia Institute for Culinary Education gave back to local frontline healthcare workers saving lives in West Michigan. Over 400 baked goods were donated by the culinary professors to the staff at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital to show thanks for their hard work on the frontlines.  The Secchia Institute has been heavily impacted by campus lockdowns and transitioned its teaching models to begin offering remote education to students enrolled in the culinary program. As professors demonstrate their lessons in the kitchens on campus, they accumulated hundreds of muffins, brownies, cookies, bars, and pastries, but they didn’t let them go to waste.

(Shutterstock) MICHIGAN The allotment of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Michigan was expecting next week is being reduced, and so far, no one is sure why. The state initially said it was told by federal officials it would receive 84,000 doses of the vaccine next week, but now state health officials are saying that the number of doses is being cut to around 60,000. Officials previously said the state was expecting several hundred thousand doses of the vaccine before the end of the year.
