Dave and Patty Schulz of Spencer are the proud parents to little Reba Jayne. Patty says she was not expecting to be the first mother to give birth in the new year. She tells us the uncommon name of Reba got its start in the musical world and then just stuck. Patty originally went into labor on Tuesday with Baby Reba making her grand debut 36 hours later at 19.25 inches long and weighing in at seven pounds, one ounce.

Susan Zulk of Spencer Hospital says in Iowa, the Iowa Department of Public Health, the state is following the CDC recommendations when it comes to vaccinations and priority groups. Zulk says the 1A group consists of healthcare personnel and residents of long-term care facilities. According to the CDC, after the 1A group is vaccinated, it will move on to the 1B group, which consists of frontline workers such as firefighters, police officers, food and agricultural workers, and more. Along with people aged 75 years and older.

One Adult Three Juveniles Injured In One Vehicle Accident December 24, 2020 9:10 am Saga Communications Clay County, IA (KICD) An adult and three juveniles were injured following a single-vehicle accident in Clay County on Wednesday. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Maria Urbina-Rivera of Marathon, Iowa was traveling east on Highway 18 in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado when she lost control on the ice-covered roadway. She went across into the opposite path, then corrected herself and entered the south ditch. Authorities say it is believed an 11-year-old child was ejected through the back window of the pickup and ended up in the truck bed.

Jordan Achterhoff, the Director of the Hospital’s Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine chamber, says chronic wounds affected nearly 6.7 million people in the United States. Achterhoff says there are quite a few benefits from receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including reduced swelling and discomfort. She says Spencer Hospital has two Hyperbaric Chambers, and the services will provide for a growing need not only in Spencer but the entire country.
