Spanish court summons Polisario chief over torture charges
The investigating judge set Wednesday, May 5, as a date for the hearing on charges brought against Ghali by rights activist Fadhel Barika, who accuses the Polisario leader of arbitrary kidnapping, detention and torture.

MADRID – A Spanish court has ordered a hearing for Ibrahim Ghali, the leader of the separatist Polisario Front who travelled last month to Spain with a fake passport to be treated for COVID-19.
Spanish and Moroccan media confirmed that the investigating judge in Madrid officially ordered the hearing. Ghali entered Spanish territory last month with an Algerian passport and a fake name.

ANKARA: Turkey has shown unexpected restraint after US President Joe Biden formally recognized the 1915 massacre of Armenians as genocide by so far avoiding the deployment of rebellious or bellicose rhetoric against its NATO ally.
Turkey maintains that the killing of Armenians was not systematically orchestrated and that they died in wartime conditions, leaving the government with two options after Biden’s Saturday statement.
Either it can continue to be cautious and dodge a diplomatic crisis with the US at a time when the Turkish lira is depreciating against the dollar, or it can move further into Russia’s orbit and risk seriously damaging relations.
