SPOKANE, Wash. The Spokane Transit Authority and Avista Utilities have partnered to provide free bus rides to people who need to go to cooling centers.
This free, door-to-door service will be effective immediately and go through Friday.
Those needing the free service can call (509)-328-1552 with at least two hours of advance notice to schedule trips to and from a cooling center.
E. Susan Meyer, STA’s CEO said they are providing the rides because the effect of the extreme heat on the health of the community.
“STA has the vehicles and the operators needed to get people to safety, which makes us well-positioned to assist Avista in its relief efforts.”
