Amritsar: 7 passengers, crew member on flight from UK test positive for COVID

15814 Amritsar, December 22 Seven passengers and a crew member who arrived here from the UK in an Air India flight tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.  Punjab Minister for Medical Education and Research OP Soni said those who tested positive for the infection will be quarantined. The Air India flight from London had landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport with 250 passengers and 22 crew members at 12.30 am last night. India has suspended all passenger flights from the UK till December 31 in the wake of the emergence of a mutated variant of coronavirus there, joining several other countries that have imposed a similar flight ban.

Amritsar, December 22 Passengers who arrived at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport from the UK protested against the authorities over the alleged delay in carrying out their coronavirus tests. Their family members on Tuesday claimed that they had been made to wait for hours. The authorities, however, said the clearance might take some more time as every passenger and crew member would have to be tested for coronavirus.  The Air India flight from the UK with 250 passengers and 18 crew members had landed at 12.30 am. India has suspended all passenger flights from the UK till December 31 in the wake of the emergence of a mutated variant of coronavirus there, joining several other countries that have imposed a similar flight ban.

6 passengers on London-Delhi flight test Covid positive

New Delhi, December 22  Six passengers travelling on Air India s London-Delhi flight tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival, a senior government official said on Tuesday.   The flight landed around 11.30 pm on Monday.   Five passengers were found COVID-positive at the Delhi airport. One passenger who took a connecting flight to Chennai was tested there and found positive, the official said.   A second flight from London landed at 6 am on Tuesday. Tests on the passengers are underway, said Dr Gauri Agarwal, founder of the Genestrings Diagnostic Center that is handling coronavirus testing at Delhi airport. “Of the approximately 100 tests completed so far, no positive found… We have two more flights scheduled for tonight, Agarwal told PTI.

However, no passenger travelling on the London-Amritsar flight tested positive for Covid-19. The Air India flight with 250 passengers and 18 crew members on board landed at the Amritsar airport, some 250 km from the state capital, early on Tuesday.
