Sligo University Hospital has had to mobilise more critical care beds as part of its Covid-19 escalation plan after reaching capacity in its ICU over the weekend.
There are currently five people in ICU with Covid-19, reaching the hospital s critical care bed capacity. As a result, the hospital has had to introduce its Covid-19 escalation plan and mobilise a further three critical care beds in its ICU.
Now, just one of those beds is available as two non-Covid patients require critical care.
The escalation is the hospital s response to a sudden increase in patient volume and demand for hospital care and resources.
