A Basingstoke man has been fined after travelling to a rave in Wales during the summer. Matthew John Parker, along with thousands of others, assembled in Banwen, on Saturday, August 29, the BBC has reported. The 35-year-old told Swansea Magistrates’ Court that he was “very sorry” for his actions as he was fined £1,200. The rave began in the early hours of Saturday on the August bank holiday. Tougher restrictions had just come into place in Wales, with unlimited fines having been introduced for the organisers of illegal raves. South Wales Police said that around 3,000 people from across the UK headed to Banwen, on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Residents are reported to have been kept awake by the noise of the nearby rave, with one man 14 miles away saying the music woke him up at 03:00am.

Discount retailer Poundstretcher has been fined after an inspection found products that were not correctly labelled for those with food allergies. Trading standards officers in Swansea, Wales, found biscuits and cakes that were not carrying the correct allergen information for wheat, eggs and milk. As a result of the inspection in Wales, The trading standards officers alerted the Food Standards Agency, with Poundstretcher told to check shelves at each and every one of its 400 branches across the UK. The retailer woes did not end there though. The firm was ordered to pay £24,000 in fines by a Swansea court according to Wales Online, and agreed to pay £6,590 towards the cost of the prosecution.

Steakhouse Miller & Carter ordered to pay more than £85,000 after serving fake lobster dishes

Steakhouse chain Miller & Carter has been ordered to pay more than £85,000 for serving lobster dishes which contained mostly white fish. The replacement was spotted in a routine check by Swansea Council s Trading Standards department at a branch of the popular chain. An investigator discovered they used a supplement known as Lobster Sensations which has 35 per cent lobster, 34 per cent combination of white fish, and the remainder made up of fillers. It was found in popular dishes such as prawn and lobster cocktail starter, lobster thermidor and grilled half lobster. Swansea Magistrates Court was told the menu failed to spell out the fish mixture was only a third lobster when it was served to customers.
