Armenia’s acting FM briefs OSCE chief on Azerbaijani provocations
Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian on Thursday held a phone conversation with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, with the conversation focusing on the situation at the border area of Armenia.
Aivazian briefed his counterpart on the situation in Armenia’s Syunik Province as a result of the provocations of the Azerbaijani military, stressing that the encroachment attempts on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in violation of international law are inadmissible, the Foreign Ministry reported.
The officials agreed that such steps pose a serious threat to regional security and peace. Sweden and Cuba express interest in strengthening relations
Stockholm, May 10 (Prensa Latina) Sweden and Cuba on Monday expressed interest in strengthening bilateral ties at a virtual meeting between Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde and Cuban Ambassador Alba Soto.
During the meeting, Linde lauded the good state of bilateral relations and noted the usefulness of the Political Consultations Mechanism, whose upcoming session is scheduled for next autumn.
She also highlighted Sweden s cooperation policy and its development regarding Cuba, in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding that governs those consultations, in force since 2015.
OSCE chief calls on sides to urgently complete exchange of detainees and all remains
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde welcomed the “release of Armenian detainees by Azerbaijan” in a tweet on Thursday.
“Call on sides to urgently complete exchange of detainees and all remains, as obligated by IHL. Fully support Minsk Group Co-chairs and urge sides to resume political process through them as soon as possible,” she tweeted, sharing the May 5 statement of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
Three Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) returned from Azerbaijani captivity on May 4. However, over 200 other Armenian POWs are still being held by Azerbaijan.
