A warrant has been issued for the arrest of two people accused of mistreating livestock. Diane Shearmon, 39, and Nicholas Shearmon, whose age is not recorded in court documents, are accused of failing to register the deaths of 21 animals, keep a register of their flock or protect their sheep and cattle from risks to their health. Nicholas Shearmon has also been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a number of cows, including three that died and one that was allegedly found severely malnourished. The majority of the offences are claimed to have been committed in 2019 at Spiderweb Paddocks, Seend. The Shearmons, both of Seend, near Melksham, had been due before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday to answer the total 24 charges against them.

A pair of alleged heroin conspirators have been charged with a forced labour offence. The two men, who are understood to be the first alleged County Lines dealers to be charged with the Modern Slavery Act offence in Swindon, are said to have press-ganged children into working for the “Flash” drugs line or drove them to Swindon. Jules Daley, 25, of Liverpool Road, Islington, is said by prosecutors to be the leader of the “Flash” line. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, no pleas were taken for a charge he conspired with others to supply heroin in Swindon between April and June 2018 and that he required a person to perform forced or compulsory labour.
Swindon Magistrates Court A ROYAL Wootton Bassett man is said to have suffocated his girlfriend using a plastic bag in an alleged murder bid. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning, Nicholas Bray, 23, of no fixed address, entered no pleas to an allegation of attempted murder. He has also been charged with sending a social media message to a Wiltshire Police officer last November threatening to shoot and decapitate him. Prosecutor Kate Prince said Bray was alleged to have held a plastic bag over his girlfriend’s head on February 2 at a home in Royal Wootton Bassett. Heavily-tattooed Bray, who appeared in custody wearing a grey tracksuit and flanked by two custody officers, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
