WILTSHIRE Police s new rural crime team has got off to a good start with a busy six months of work. The team has charged 11 people with offences and carried out 15 operations with police partners, worked to disrupt organised crime groups and delivered rural crime training to over 600 officers and staff. The team is made up of one sergeant, three constables and 35 community policing team officers who are trained and can offer support as wildlife and heritage crime officers across Wiltshire. An inspector acts as the tactical lead along with members of the force s special constabulary, who are used on pre-planned operations.

By Advertiser Reporter A DRUG driver was more than three-times the cannabis limit. Matthew Reynolds, 28, was caught behind the wheel of a BMW 316 pm Enford Avenue, Penhill, on June 17 last year. Tests showed he had 7mcgs of tetrahydrocannabinol and 126mcgs of cocaine biproduct benzoylecgonine in his bloodstream. The limits are 2mcgs and 50mcgs respectively. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, Reynolds, of Bratton Close, Penhill, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving while over the specified limit for controlled drugs. Emma Handslip, defending, said her client had not received the court summons. He was arrested on a warrant issued by the court.

Shaun Cunneen, 40, is also said to have used racist language and brandished a blade as he threatened the man with whom he lived in a shared house in Pinehurst on Thursday, April 8. Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, Cunneen, of Whitworth Road, pleaded not guilty to racially aggravated common assault, racially aggravated assault by beating, common assault and battery. He was bailed with conditions to live at his mother’s house in Liden, banned from going within a mile of his former home in Whitworth Road or contacting prosecution witnesses.
