Bryn Wise, 21, was stopped driving a Ford Focus on September 22, 2019, near Chippenham. Checks showed he was not insured to drive it, only had a provisional licence and the car was not showing learner plates. He had a previous conviction from 2017 for driving without a licence and insurance. Speaking in his own defence at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon, Wise acknowledged there was no excuse. He said his partner was 34 weeks’ pregnant at the time. She had been driving the car, but was in pain so he took over. “Obviously this is no excuse and I explained this to the officer who pulled me over.” He offered his apologies and added: “It has happened before and it’s happened again, so I have to deal with it.”
