A WARRANT has been issued for a woman allegedly caught almost four times over the drink-drive limit. Ewelina Klechowska, 35, of no fixed address, had been due before Swindon Magistrates’ Court to answer an allegation of drink driving. It is said she was behind the wheel of a 2009-plate Ford Focus on Hodson Road, Chiseldon, on August 16, 2020, when tests later showed she had the equivalent of 131mgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. When she failed to show up at court on Wednesday, magistrates issued a warrant for her arrest.

Jason Otley, 46, was followed by a security guard after staff at the Hugo Boss store at the Swindon Designer Outlet watched him take a £69 hooded top on December 22. Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard the Bristol man went on to steal sweets from Cadbury’s, a bottle of water from Costa Coffee, an £18 belt buckle from World of Belts and a Lego model car from Hamleys worth £238. When he was stopped he had a foil lined rucksack into which some of the stolen items had been placed. He was accompanied on his theft trip by a woman.

Sentenced for possession of two air weapons, having a knife, scrawling on an ambulance, being drunk and disorderly and disorderly behaviour on Monday Joseph McLaughlin was spared an immediate prison term – as the district judge feared he “might die” in custody and would lose his flat. The 31-year-old, who has weapons offences on his record, was given a six month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Police swooped after reports of Joseph McLaughlin holding one of the weapons in The Parade in Swindon town centre on Sunday afternoon. He’d told a town centre security guard he would “shoot someone”. Taken to the police station, the 31-year-old said he’d had the weapons as he wanted to protect his family. He blew 171 on the breath test machine – almost five times the legal drink drive limit.
