CALUMET, Mich. – A massive fire that happened on Friday night destroyed a block in the historic Calumet downtown area,
The station reported that the fire took place in a building on the 100 block of South 5th Street late Friday night and continued spreading.
Multiple fire departments were involved in putting the fire out and most had reportedly left the scene by 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Very few details about the fire including its cause and whether anyone was hurt have been released.

HOUGHTON A Twin Lakes man was killed in a collision between a car and a side-by-side on M-26 Saturday morning.
The crash occurred about 9:40 a.m. near Twin Lakes, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said. An 86-year-old Twin Lakes man was crossing the highway from Twin Lakes Road to an ORV trail when he failed to yield to an SUV driven by a 23-year-old man. The SUV could not stop and hit the ORV near the southbound shoulder of the road. The 23-year-old was uninjured, while the 86-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

HUBBELL A woman who was shot by police during an incident in Hubbell on April 12 is no longer in critical condition at a Green Bay, Wisconsin, hospital as of Monday, a Michigan State Police spokesperson said.
Lt. Mark Giannunzio, public information officer for the Michigan State Police’s Eighth District, said the woman was transferred to the regular care unit at the hospital and her condition is improving.
The Michigan State Police and Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired at a house in Hubbell around 9:15 p.m. April 12, the MSP said. Officers found a 28-year-old woman outside believed to be armed.

HUBBELL A woman shot by police during an incident in Hubbell Monday night remained in critical condition at a Green Bay hospital as of noon Tuesday, a Michigan State Police spokesperson said Wednesday.
The Michigan State Police and Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired at a house in Hubbell about 9:15 p.m. Monday, the MSP said. Officers found a 28-year-old woman outside believed to be armed.
Video taken by a bystander and posted online showed the woman yelling “Shoot me!” as police ordered her to drop a gun. She was shot as she turned to re-enter the house. An MSP release stated police had feared for the safety of an elderly woman in the house.
