A 25-year-old man has been arrested by police for threatening National MP Simeon Brown.
The alleged offender, who Newshub understands is a gang member, was arrested at a Lower Hutt property on Friday afternoon. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our staff from both the Criminal Investigation Branch in Counties Manukau, where the original complaint was received, and the team in Lower Hutt who located the alleged offender today, said Wellington Field Crime Manager Detective Inspector Darrell Harpur. They worked closely together under urgency to get this result.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with threatening to kill National MP Simeon Brown.
The man was arrested today without incident at a Lower Hutt property, police said.
Earlier this week, Brown said he had received threats after he had criticised Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson s visit to a Waikato Mongrel Mob hui at the weekend.

A 25-year-old man has been charged in relation to threats against National MP Simeon Brown. Police said in a statement on Friday that the man was arrested at a Lower Hutt address without incident. He will appear at the Hutt Valley District Court next Thursday, May 13, facing a charge of threatening to kill. Brown, 30, is the MP for the Auckland electorate of Pakuranga. He is National’s spokesman for Corrections, youth, and tertiary education and associate spokesperson for education and drug reform. Wellington Field Crime Manager Detective Inspector Darrell Harpur said the Counties Manukau police Criminal Investigation Branch received the original complaint and Lower Hutt officers found the alleged offender on Friday.

The man is due to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court on Thursday where he will face a charge of threatening to kill.
