(HCPO photo)HCPO Facebook Share A 78-year-old Union City man charged with sexually assaulting three girls over a 15-year period is facing a fourth count after authorities say he sexually abused a girl when she was as young as 3 years old. The girl, who is now 19, was touched by Carlos Menjivar at a birthday party in 2004, and she told family members two days later at a Christmas gathering where Menjivar was present, the criminal complaint said. At the time, family members decided not to report it to the police.

Prosecutor: New Jersey parole officer charged with ticket switch fraud

By John Heinis/Hudson County View The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Public Integrity Unit, Internal Affairs Section in conjunction with the North Bergen Police Department, arrested and charged a New Jersey parole officer with theft by deception following an investigation, Suarez said in a statement. Jorge Ortega,  41, of Jersey City, was arrested on Friday afternoon at Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City. Ortega has been charged with theft by deception, a disorderly persons offense, and was released on a summons complaint. His first court appearance is scheduled for January 4th, 2021.

Hudson Reporter Parole officer charged in alleged ‘ticket switch fraud’ case × On Dec. 11, law enforcement arrested and charged 41-year-old Jersey City resident Jorge Ortega, a New Jersey Parole Officer, with Theft by Deception. According to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the arrest comes after an investigation by the HCPO’s  Public Integrity Unit, Internal Affairs Section in conjunction with the North Bergen Police Department. According to the press release, the investigation revealed that between July and October of this year Ortega allegedly used the commonly-called “ticket switch fraud” to change the labels on various higher value items for lower value items at a Target on Tonnelle Ave. in North Bergen.

On Dec. 10, Jersey City police officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Ave., where they found an unconscious 35-year-old Jersey City man, later identified as Niles Holmes, with apparent multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. A Jersey city man, 24, sustained two graze wounds to the arm. No arrests have been made at this time.
