A 23-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night in Jersey City.
Emmanuel Garcia was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his body near Princeton Avenue and Brown Place around 11 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
He was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 11:24 p.m., Suarez said.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning.

Elvis Santana, 30, of Bayonne, was charged in March in relation to the death of Mathew
Mortimer who was found with multiple stab wounds to his body in the vestibule of 1095 Avenue C, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Authorities believe that Santana is in the New York/New Jersey metro area.
Santana was previously charged with murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
On Tuesday, March 2nd, just before 3:30 p.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to 1095 Avenue C between 53rd and 54th Streets on reports of a stabbing.

Today at approximately 1:10 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department were attempting to make a motor vehicle stop in the area of Bergen and Oxford Avenues, Suarez said in a statement.
During the course of the stop, one of the officers discharged his weapon striking a vehicle.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the
incident, including the motor vehicle stop and the officer’s discharge of his service weapon.
As is standard protocol, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has been notified of the incident and investigation.

A Bayonne man accused of fatally stabbing a man has evaded authorities for nearly two months, and now the public’s help is being sought.
Authorities say Elvis Santana, 30, stabbed 29-year-old Mathew Mortimer to death in the vestibule of a Bayonne apartment building on Avenue C near 54th Street on March 2.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office believes Santana is still in the metro New Jersey/New York area.

On Thursday, April 22nd, Zia Berisha, 46, of Linden, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter in relation to the fatal shooting of Michael Marro, Jr., of Jersey City, that occurred on November 6, 2007, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Hudson County Superior Court Judge Patrick Arre presided over the plea hearing.
The state is recommending a sentence of 20 years in New Jersey state prison subject to the No Early Release Act for the aggravated manslaughter which would run consecutive to a 15-year federal sentence against Berisha related to a 2009 plea for a charge of conspiracy to distribute ecstasy.
