The Town of Westfield’s Green Team, in conjunction with the Westfield Board of Education and assistance from the NJ School Boards Association, will launched a high school level Green Career Fair on Thursday, May 20 to introduce students to future careers in the Green Economy. The Career Fair will be held virtually over four days and feature 12 speakers, each representing various jobs in the sustainability field.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Board of Education to hold one of the first Green Career Fairs in the state,” said Ward 3 Councilman and Green Team Liaison David Contract. “This is a great way to show Westfield students how they can turn their passion for protecting the environment into a fulfilling career.”

Now that Hudson County officials have broken ground on The View at Lincoln Park construction on the multi-million-dollar project will begin this month.
The new dining and catering facility, on the southeastern side of Lincoln Park, replaces the former Casino in the Park which opened in 1950 and closed in 2017.
Envisioned and used as a clubhouse for the tennis courts, and then a summer museum, the Casino in the Park has been used for thousands of political events and wedding celebrations.
In 1963, Frank Sinatra attended his parents’ 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Casino in the Park. In 1991, the Hudson County Democratic Organization hosted then Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton.

The Bayonne City Council has tabled two ordinances that would have condemned the Bayonne Medical Center property through eminent domain.
At it’s April meeting, the council introduced the two ordinances that would initiate eminent domain proceedings which began last year. In May, 2020, the Hudson County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to approve three resolutions authorizing the Hudson County Improvement Authority (HCIA) to begin the process.

The future ownership of Bayonne’s only hospital sparked hours of public comment and earnest
pleas at Wednesday’s City Council meeting as the city councilmembers weighed whether to clear a path for acquiring the property through eminent domain.
The vote on the matter was carried Wednesday due to a procedural step that must precede the vote, and despite the hours of public discussion about the topic, it is still unclear which way most council members are leaning.
