Wrong-Way Driver Kills Woman in Head-on Crash, Shuts Down Route-9

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is continuing to investigate a fatal two-car crash that occurred on Easter Sunday around 6 p.m. on Route 9 in front of 9 Mall Plaza located at 1830 South Road. The shopping center is home to Kohl s, Aldi and a number of other businesses.
According to police, an 83-year-old man from Wappinger Falls was traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 9 and collided head-on with a 2019 Nissan Sentra driven by a 28-year-old man from Wappinger Falls. The Nissan was traveling north in the northbound lane, police say.

On Sunday, New York State Police from the Liberty barracks responded to a fight in progress at a Sunoco gas station on North Main Street in the village of Liberty. When troopers arrived at the gas station, they observed an injured person being treated by Mobile Medic.
Troopers also observed a man leaving the area. Troopers stopped the individual to ask him about the altercation. While speaking to the individual, later identified as 23-year-old Nyyair Carney from the city of Port Jervis, troopers observed a gun in his waistband, police say.

The winning numbers for Monday s Cash4Life drawing were 19-21-26-39-52 with a cash ball of 03. The second-prize winning ticket sold in Poughkeepsie hit on all of the numbers except the cash ball.
Whoever owns the winning ticket is now guaranteed $1,000 a week, for life, the New York State Lottery states.
