On Friday, New York State Police out of the Monroe Barracks arrested 40-year-old Yoel Einhorn from the village of Kiryas Joel for third-degree arson, third-degree burglary, both felonies, and possession of burglar tools, a misdemeanor.
The arrest of Einhorn stemmed from an investigation into a fire during the early morning hours on Thursday at the Kiryas Joel Public School at 1 Dinev Road in the Village of Kiryas Joel.
A motive is unclear at this time. No injuries were reported.
Einhorn was arraigned at the Town of Newburgh Court and released on his own recognizance. Einhorn was scheduled to appear at the Town of Monroe Court for his next court date.

On Sunday, Gov. Cuomo updated New Yorkers on the state s progress combating COVID-19. 2.23 percent of all tests in the last 24 hours came back positive. This marks the first time the 1-day COVID positivity rate was above 2 percent since May. COVID-19 continues to spread in New York State and new variants are cause for concern, so it s absolutely vital that every New Yorker who hasn t gotten vaccinated yet does so immediately, Cuomo said.
The seven-Day average percent positive rate in the Hudson Valley has increased to 1.71 percent. The Hudson Valley currently has the third-highest t seven-day average positivity rate in New York. The Capital Region currently has the highest seven-day average positivity rate in all of New York State at 2.44 percent. The Finger Lakes is second-highest at 1.78 percent, according to Cuomo.
