| By our correspondent ISLAMABAD: The government is expected to complete the privatisation of Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC) by the mid of the current year as it has already shortlisted investors for issuance of request for statement of qualification, officials said on Thursday. The officials told a weekly meeting on privatisation transactions that 12 expressions of interest had been shortlisted for HEC. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Privatisation Mohammedmian Soomro. In November last, Cabinet Committee on Privatisation approved the transaction structure for the divestment of 96.6 per cent shares of HEC. This was the seventh transaction approved since the start of the privatisation plans adopted in October 2018.

HARIPUR: A worker was burnt to death and another received injuries when part of a textile industry caught fire in Hattar Industrial Estate, police said here on Saturday. The fire tenders managed to put out the inferno after an effort of four hours, police and eyewitnesses said, adding the preliminary investigation suggested the fire was caused by electricity short-circuiting. The Hattar police quoted factory workers as saying the fire broke out in the blow room during the early hours which engulfed the entire unit, injuring two workers busy in the production process. The injured were removed to the Haripur Trauma Centre, but the doctors there pronounced Gul Shireen as brought dead. Shehzad was referred to the Holy Family Hospital Islamabad with over 40 per cent burns.

Privatisation Commission holds road show for Heavy Industrial Complex Business February 6, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Privatisation Commission (PC) arranged a road show in Lahore for at least 10 potential investors interested in acquiring the Heavy Electrical Complex (HEC) located in Hattar Industrial Estate, a statement given by the ministry said on Friday. Federal Minister for Privatisation Mohammadmian Soomro, Secretary Privatisation Commission Hassan Nasir Jamy along with transition advisors attended the road show. Interested potential investors, including M/s Jaffer Brothers, PEL, Waves Singer Pakistan, IMS / Powerworld, AVS / Tapal, Transfopower, Samira Textile, K-Electric, ATL and Designs and Engineering Systems were briefed about the HEC.
