The city of Huntsville on Thursday night announced plans for a mixed-use development potentially attracting some “big name” retailers to a large vacant space along Memorial Parkway in north Huntsville that will also provide a new home for the Huntsville City Schools administration building.
The project also has the promise to give a further economic boost to north Huntsville after years of falling behind as other areas of the city saw dramatic growth.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Christie Finley are working together on a potential relocation site for the school systemâs administrative offices.
Mayor Battle said the city agreed to put money toward the purchase of a 14-acre site for a new mixed-use redevelopment project near the intersection of Max Luther Drive and North Memorial Parkway. A new Huntsville City Schools central office would be part of the project.

There s a proposal to move it from White Street to North Memorial Parkway at Max Luther Drive
Thursday night, Huntsville City council members heard a first reading of the proposal for the school district.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Huntsville City Schools Board of Education meeting on Tuesday was not without controversy between Huntsville City Schools and residents of the Blossomwood neighborhood.
The school district is planning to buy the old Clements Church on McClung Avenue.
The $2.7 million purchase comes with a plan to move its central office.
