Sunday marked the beginning of National Hospital Week, celebrating the extraordinary work and spirit that healthcare heroes exemplify each day, especially through the pandemic.
For National Hospital Week, Huntsville Memorial Hospital employees are reflecting back on the trials of the past year, and how their love to serve keeps them moving forward.
âThis last year has been like nothing Iâve ever seen, itâs been the hardest year in my career,â ICU RN charge nurse Elizabeth Canales said. âNever have I seen our resources as a hospital, as a state, as a country, as a world, stretched to the limits that it has been.â

SAAFE House and the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Committee at Sam Houston State University held a SAAM rally at the Walker County Courthouse last week. The groups will be supporting sexual assault survivors and educating the community all month long with several virtual and in-person activities.

SAAFE House, in partnership with the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Committee at Sam Houston State University, will be hosting virtual and in-person events through April, to educate the community and show support for survivors, while inspiring some to step forward in reporting their experience.

The Walker County Office of Emergency Management has opened reservations for Moderna COVID-19 vaccination on April 13-14. As we receive COVID-19 vaccine allocations, Huntsville Family Medicine and Huntsville Memorial Hospital in partnership with the Walker County Office of Emergency Management, will be providing COVID-19 vaccinations based on the current phases published by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Â
All adults over the age of 18 are eligible to receive the vaccine.
