The State of California requires unvaccinated individuals to wear a mask indoors. Locally, the Delta variant made up 25% of sequenced samples in June, and health officials anticipate that number will increase. The Delta variant represents more than 50% of sequenced COVID-positive test samples statewide, according to the most recent genomic sequencing data from the California Department of Public Health. Humboldt County Public Health confirmed 27 new COVID-19 cases today making 96 so far this week as well as two new hospitalizations. Today s cases which come after the county confirmed 84 new cases last week amid a recent surge in virus activity were confirmed after laboratories processed 106 samples with a test positivity rate of 25.4 percent. Statewide, the test-positivity rate over the past seven days sits at 4.1 percent the highest since February which is dwarfed by the local rate of 14 percent over the same period.
