Haryana: Anil Vij directs officials to increase Mucormycosis-dedicated beds in all govt hospitals ANI | Updated: May 28, 2021 01:01 IST
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], May 28 (ANI): Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Thursday directed officials to increase the number of beds in all of the state s government medical colleges for the treatment of patients with Black Fungus.
The direction is to augment the number of beds from 20 to 75 in each of them.
At present, twenty beds have been arraged for the treatment of the infection in every medical college of the state.
On May 18, the Haryana government had declared the infection as an epidemic in the state forming regulations called, The Haryana Epidemic Diseases (Mucormycosis) Regulations, 2021 .
Anil Vij said that most of the Black Fungus cases reported in Haryana do not seem to have been caused by the usual factors. The state Health Minister sought more research into its cause.

Of the 413 Mucormycosis or ‘Black Fungus’ patients in Haryana so far, 64 never had COVID-19 infection, said Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday.
Mr. Vij stressed the need for more research into the cause of the disease. “Out of 413 Black Fungus patients admitted in different Hospitals of Haryana analysed 64 were never Corona +ve, 79 are not diabetic, 110 have not taken steroids and 213 were not on Oxygen Therapy. Cause of Mucormycosis disease needs more research,” said a tweet from his official handle.

Chandigarh, May 25 : Amid the ongoing row over Baba Ramdev s statements against allopathy, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij announced to provide one lakh Ayurveda-based Coronil kits to coronavirus patients in the state free of cost.
Vij informed in a tweet that half of the cost of the kits has been borne by Patanjali and the other half by the state government from the Covid Relief Fund.
Each kit contains three items Coronil tablets, Swasari Vati and Anu Taila.
