PARIS .- Entre ciel et terre is Sean Scully’s first exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac, opening in the Paris Marais gallery on April 24th. Created for the most part during the pandemic, the paintings suggest a connection with nature and an inner world of memory in troubled times. The exhibition will present for the first time Sean Scully’s new Mirroring series. Painted in oil on aluminium, the large-scale works are divided into two sets of colour stripes that mirror each other with variations. Between each colour field, the artist has left the metal surface apparent. The overall composition with the rhythm of the horizontal bands bring to mind the pages of a book or a musical score. Smithsonian will reopen eight museums and other venues in May after more than five-month closures

The Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC announced today that it will reopen eight of its venues to the public on a staggered schedule in May after a hiatus of more than five months. It is the second reopening after the initial closure in March 2020 due to Covid-19: between last July and October, the Smithsonian had previously reopened eight facilities before closing to the public again on 23 November amid a spike in coronavirus cases. Visitors must reserve free timed-entry passes for all open locations and observe various safety restrictions such as mask-wearing and maintaining social distancing. Tours and events remain suspended.

Udvar-Hazy Center will be the first to restart operations on May 5. On May 14, the following museums will reopen: the National Portrait Gallery, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum and its Renwick Gallery.
