Trafficking Job Seekers to Sri Lanka: Ringleader still at large

The alleged ringleader of an international human trafficking gang that trafficked many fortune-seekers to Sri Lanka and held them captive at jungles of the island country, is still at large although he was wanted in several cases.
Shah Newaz alias Rajib alias SM Golden Shoyeb, the kingpin of the racket and son of Shaheed Master, is accused in at least six cases. Hailing from Waru in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district, he has been residing in Dakkhinkhan of the capital.
The investigation officers (IOs) of the cases said they were not looking into the matter as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over it.

Jamal Bhuiyan off to Kolkata The New Nation

Captain of Bangladesh National Football team Jamal Bhuiyan left the city for Kolkata on Thursday to take part in the I-League. Jamal will play for Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club. The I-League will start on January 9.
Jamal-led Bangladesh Football team arrived in Qatar to play FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2023 match against the hosts on December 4.
After the match, Bangladesh team returned home. But Jamal stayed in Doha, the capital city of Qatar for personal reasons. Later, he was infected by coronavirus and stayed at a hotel in isolation under the observation of Qatar Football Association. Jamal has tested negative for coronavirus, according to a saliva test in Doha on December 22. Then he returned home.

DHAKA, Dec 16, 2020 (BSS) – Preventive team of Dhaka Customs House seized 130 gold bars, weighing 15 kgs, worth around Taka 1.5 crore and arrested a man in this connection at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday.
The arrested was identified as Lutfar Rahman Munshi, 53, of Mymensingh district, deputy commissioner (Preventive Team) of Dhaka Customs House Mohammad Marufur Rahman today confirmed the matter to BSS.
He said an Emirates Airlines flight (EK- 584) from Dubai landed at Dhaka Shahjalal Airport around 11pm.
The officers of the Preventive Smuggling Prevention Team of Dhaka Custom House, being informed, took position at different points of the airport and started keeping a close watch.
