Dismantling the army might lead to a Libya or Iraq situation
Speaking at the event that was streamed online via Zoom on Wednesday, Mar. 10, the Senior Adviser to Singapore-based Kuok Group and Hong Kong-based Kerry Logistics Network, acknowledged that there is a lot of anger, fear and frustration among his friends from Myanmar.

He then raised the example of Libya and Iraq, where after Saddam Hussein s regime and military were dismantled, fragmented militia groups fought to fill the power vacuum left behind.

Shenzhen-listed S.F. Holding, one of China s largest couriers, has offered to buy shares in Kerry Logistics for HK$18.80 each, representing a 20% discount to Tuesday s closing price. The company will raise funds to pay for the stake purchase and one of its units plans to take HK$24.0 billion in loans from a group of banks led by JPMorgan Chase Bank, S.F. said late Tuesday.

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) decision to freeze the issuance of new licences for courier services for two years will provide the crowded field with some respite, although competition will remain extremely stiff.
The freeze, effective Sept 14, has been lauded by local industry players, which are concerned about the existence of too many courier service companies, especially given the influx of foreign-owned ones.
