China and Hong Kong shares posted robust gains on Wednesday, with the blue-chip CSI300 index rising to its highest in more than five years, as Asian stocks hit a record high on hopes of a strong economic recovery next year.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia was higher at midday on Wednesday, with steady buying seen in smaller capitalised stocks, as investor sentiment perked up following the better showing by key Asian markets.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 2.29 points or 0.14% to 1,637.28. Turnover was 4.72 billion shares valued at RM1.88bil. Advancers led decliners 563 to 455 while 469 counters were unchanged.
The ringgit was quoted at 4.0401 to the US dollar.
