PESHAWAR: A meeting of Provincial E-Commerce council held with private members at Khyber Pakht-unkhwa Board of Investment & Trade under the chairmanship of Secretary Industries Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by CEO KP-BOIT, Hassan Daud Butt, Managing Director Bank of Khyber, Ihsan Ullah Ihsan, Managing Director KP-IT Board, Dr. Ali Mahmud and members of the council.
CEO KPBOIT gave a detailed presentation on E-Commerce strategy, vision, goals, international payments systems, potential, challenges, and way forward in the provincial context covering the merged area.
He also elaborated on Pakistan`s growing ranking in Forbes freelancing market globally.

Fairly rational, the billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) emerged as an important facet of Pakistan’s economy and President Xi Jinping believes it has potential to “create a brighter future for China and Pakistan”. CPEC was envisioned by leaders of the two countries as a three-phased venture. According to the Long Term Plan (2017-2030), CPEC was to address “major bottlenecks of Pakistan’s economic development” as part the early harvest projects completing by 2020. Phase II envisaged medium-term objectives focusing on industrial systems impacting people’s livelihood by 2025 and by 2030 CPEC would be accomplished with “mechanism for sustainable growth in place”.
Policy note on reforming sales tax launched

PESHAWAR: The Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR) in collaboration with the International Growth Centre (IGC), Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) and the provincial government launched a policy note on ‘Reforming Sales Tax on Services in Khyber Pakht-unkhwa’ through a webinar.
The note presents a framework for reforming Sales Tax on Services (STS) in the province through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA).
This policy note was driven by SEED’s strategic priority to provide technical assistance to the KP government funded by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). One of the main agendas of SEED, a multi-sectorial seven-year programme, is to support the KP government in achieving economic development and undertake sustainable energy reforms in KP.
