A thief from Hatfield has been jailed after swiping a laptop from a primary school in the town.
Francis Keeley, of Goldsmith Way, pleaded guilty to stealing the laptop from Oak View Primary & Nursery School, having trespassed at the site in Woods Avenue on May 11.
Appearing at Hatfield Magistrates Court on Monday, the 47-year-old was handed an 18-week prison sentence by district judge Margaret Dodd, who cited Keeley s previous convictions as a reason for the custodial sentence.
Keeley must pay £397.42 compensation to the school for the stolen laptop. He must also pay a surcharge of £128 and £85 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service - the total of £610.42 must be paid by August 17, 2021.

A vandal from Stevenage has been sentenced after damaging a car and committing a racially aggravated assault in Letchworth.
Ashley Banks - of Great Gables - appeared at Hatfield Magistrates Court on Friday, May 7 for his sentencing, after being found guilty of all charges on April 16.
The court heard how the 33-year-old launched a racially aggravated assault on a man in Letchworth on May 24, 2019.
On the same day, he also damaged a woman s silver Volkswagen Golf in Letchworth.
Banks was also found guilty of failing to surrender to court on April 16.

A man and woman from Letchworth are due to stand trial next month, after being charged with holding two people against their will, assaulting them and demanding money.
Stacey Edwards, 42, of Western Way appeared at Hatfield Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with two counts of taking someone against their will using force or fraud, two counts of assault and unlawful imprisonment, two counts of making unwarranted demands for money and one count of assault by beating.
