Police assist incapacitated citizens
ELLSWORTH A traffic stop on April 14 ended with one teenager summoned and her passenger taken to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital. Office McKay McLean was conducting the traffic stop when he was told that a passenger was in the midst of a drug overdose. McLean escorted the car to the hospital, where the person was treated. He also summoned 18-year-old Beaudie Jipson of Seal Cove on charges of illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor and operating a vehicle without a license.
Police also were called to the China Hill parking lot on April 14 for a report of a heavily intoxicated man sitting in his car. He was taken home by taxi.

CHESTER, W.Va. The city has at least one police officer on the roster who is not afraid of a little horsepower.
Donnie Blankenship, who has been employed full-time as a patrolman in Chester for two years, came a little late to his law enforcement career compared to some.
He always wanted to be a police officer like his grandfather, who served briefly as Hancock County Sheriff, However, he didn’t pursue that dream until several years ago.

Bangor, Maine News Update: April 9, 2021
The Maine CDC reports 326 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death. Bates College students have been on in-room lockdown for over a week, and it’s now been extended to Sunday. Students are only allowed to leave their rooms for food, exercise, or getting vaccinated as the college tries to get ahead of a growing COVID-19 outbreak.
Two men are facing charges after a homeowner said they allegedly broke into his Otis home. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the witness told authorities that two men ran from his house when he returned home. WVII-TV reports Darrell Rogers of Medford and Casey Mcelligot of Otis are charged with burglary.
29-Year-Old Woman Accidentally Shot at Home by Boyfriend
A 29-year-old Maine woman is recovering in the hospital after being accidentally shot at her home by her boyfriend.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said it happened Thursday in the town of Mariaville, just east of Bangor.
WVII reports a 30-year-old man was cleaning his gun when it accidentally went off, striking the woman.
She was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
