Hankook gains OE fitments on Porsche Boxster, Cayman

NEU-ISENBURG, Germany Sports car maker Porsche A.G. has selected versions of Hankook Tire & Technology Co. Ltd. s Ventus S1 evo 3 ultra-high-performance tire line as OE fitments on the 2021 model-year 718 Boxster and Cayman mid-engine two-seat models.
The fitments cover export models as well as those sold in Europe, Hankook said. As such, cars sold in North America could come equipped with the Ventus fitment.
These latest fitments complement Hankook OE fitments on Porsche s
Cayenne SUV and Taycan electric-driven models, the South Korean tire maker said.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Hankook Tire America Corp. and Major League Baseball (MLB) have extended Hankook s deal as official tire of the MLB in the U.S. and South Korea.
Hankook secured the deal with MLB in 2018 with the goal of showcasing Hankook across MLB s wide array of media assets, including MLB Network, MLB.com, the MLB app and MLB social media channels.

MUNICH The sanctioning body for the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) has awarded the race tire supply contract for the series to Michelin Motorsport, starting with the 2021 season.
The announcement is an abrupt about face for the DTM, since the series organizer, ITR G.m.b.H., in 2019 had extended
its contract with Hankook Tire & Technology Co. Ltd. the series supplier since 2011 through 2023.
The ITR did not comment on the reason or reasons for the abrupt change, and Hankook has not responded to queries for comment.
Michelin s supply deal will start April 7-8 at the series first 2021 test session at Germany s Hockenheimring. The 2021 season is scheduled to start June 18 at Monza, Italy.
Commerce reduces import duty for Cheng Shin/Maxxis

WASHINGTON The Department of Commerce has cut the anti-dumping import duties imposed on passenger and light truck tires shipped to the U.S from Taiwan by Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd./Maxxis International by nearly 20 percentage points, in response to appeals filed by the company.
The duty for Cheng Shin drops to 33.33% from 52.42%, Commerce said, because the agency made significant ministerial errors regarding Cheng Shin s arm s-length test results and inclusion of Channel 3 sales in the home market sales database.
At the same time, Commerce dropped the all others duty rate which applies to all companies in Taiwan other than Cheng Shin and Nankang Rubber Tire Corp. Ltd. to 84.33% from 88.82% in response to petitions filed by Nankang.
