Hopkinsville Solid Waste General Manager Tony Sicari
During Tuesday night’s meeting, Hopkinsville City Council approved an ordinance increasing the residential trash and garbage collection rates.
Hopkinsville Solid Waste General Manager Tony Sicari brought the proposed rate increase before the Committee of the Whole at its last meeting, citing the increase would help offset rising service costs. The ordinance forwarded to City Council for first reading increases the monthly garbage collection rate to $25 for apartments, economy, and residences.
Councilman Chuck Crabtree asked what the difference is between collecting garbage at an apartment versus a single-family home with Sicari explaining they are trying to be more uniform across the board.

Hopkinsville City Council approved a residential trash rate increase on first-reading at Tuesday’s meeting, meaning residential Herby Curby trash collection service in Hopkinsville would be going up by $3.41 each month.
Hopkinsville Solid Waste General Manager Tony Sicari brought the request before council due to steadily increasing service costs and he’s hopeful this will be last increase they request for a good while. It also raises the rates for apartments and economy collection to $25, which are increases of $10.13 and $12.83 respectively and Sicari says to make rates uniform across the board to hopefully be fairer to all customers.
