HCCPL Walking Families Through Storybooks

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is hosting a winter-themed StoryWalk through January. The new StoryWalk, in partnership with Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation, features “While We Can’t Hug” by Eoin McLaughlin and “Snowmen at Night” by Caralyn Buehner. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont. This outdoor reading experience walks families page-by-page through the stories with bonus activities throughout. The StoryWalk is located along the Rail Trail near the dog park through Jan. 4. The library is also gifting holiday grab-and-go activity packets on Dec. 19. They will have Shrinky Dinks for tweens and teens and plastic canvas snowmen for adults 19 or older.

Sylas flips the switch on the tree, lights up Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Dec 11, 2020 6:47 PM Hopkinsville may have had to call off several Christmas time regular festivities this year, but that didn’t stop Parks and Recreation from flipping the switch for the tree lighting Friday night, with a special light switch flipper. It was a much smaller crowd than past years, due to pandemic restrictions, but the lighting was aired live on Facebook for all to enjoy. The light switch was flipped by seven-year old Sylas Luxmore, who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year and was very ill during Christmas last year this year he’s feeling better and ready to enjoy his favorite holiday.
